Prosecutors exercise enormous discretionary power in our criminal legal system. They must recognize the failures of mass incarceration and the economic and social implications of their decisions. Prosecutors must be a part of the movement for change. The Justice Plan: Reform Prosecutors  is a roadmap for organizers, activists, and concerned citizens to lead the way in re-imagining how prosecutors “do justice” and demanding transformative change.

We have created a framework for communities to build their own movements. To help voters, organizers, and activists advocate for change, we have gathered resources that will inform and equip them with the necessary knowledge and strategies to examine their local prosecutor’s office and identify areas for reform. We have identified starting points for informed discussions with elected prosecutors and candidates for office. And we have created calls to action for them to demand change from their local prosecutor.

Our work is centered on empowering communities to lead these movements because they know what is best for their people. Every local justice system in America is different. Prosecutors’ offices operate dramatically different from county to county. Communities will know best the way forward and we will be there to support them, every step of the way.
